Corset Making

This exciting 2 day course will introduce you to the fascinating world of Corsets.

Suitable for those of you with some experience of garment making.

You will learn how to make a fabulous multi- layered, lined corset which includes Spiral Steel Boning, a Front Fastening Busk and Back Lacing with hand-inserted Grommets.

I have developed a pattern in a wide range of sizes, based on an authentic Victorian corset pattern. With each  size I have included options for different postures so that we can concentrate on obtaining the perfect fit for your Corset.

I have constructed a range of toiles (sample corsets) to take into consideration posture as well as size. Several fittings  will be made – some without boning, and some with bones inserted, to ensure that the corset will fit your body perfectly.

You will need to bring along I metre of your chosen fabric (eg. Silk Dupion, Taffeta, Duchesse Satin – please do not bring stretch fabric) and any favourite lace, ribbons etc. to create your beautiful bespoke corset. All other fabrics, trimmings and specialist components will be provided.

Please also bring matching thread.

Good machine skills are required as stitching lines will be visible.
