During this 1 day workshop, I will teach you all the skills needed for you to create a lovely Stretch Jersey Tube Dress, with your choice of sleeve length and the option of a scoop or ‘V’ neckline.
Stretch Tube Dress
Working from a pattern drafted by me, I will show you how to handle and cut this tricky fabric, and experiment with new sewing techniques.
You will learn how to familiarise yourself with the stretch stitches on a domestic sewing machine in order to assemble your Dress.
There will be an opportunity of using an Overlock Machine if you would like to try it.
You will need to provide the fabric for your dress.
1.5 metres of Stretch Jersey fabric in a medium or heavy weight will be plenty for any length of dress. Jersey fabric usually comes in a 150cms width. A few cms. narrower or wider will be fine, but if the fabric is considerably narrower you may need to get 2 metres. If you have any queries please email me.
On this course you will learn how to:
- Work with stretch fabrics.
- Lay up and cut fabric using a pattern template.
- Experiment with stretch machine stitches.
- Stitch seams, darts, hems and binding.
